The first part of the CIA exam, titled “Essentials of Internal Auditing,” assesses fundamental internal auditing knowledge. It covers topics like foundations of internal auditing, ethics and professionalism, governance, risk management, and control, with a significant portion dedicated to fraud risk. The exam consists of 125 multiple-choice questions and a 2.5-hour time limit.
